Viewer access (free users)

Free users can view shared apps for a limited time. This lets you share your work with anyone without requiring them to pay.

How it works

  • Free users get 30 days of viewer access per app.

  • The clock starts when they first open the app, not when you invite them.

  • Each app has its own 30-day window.

  • There is no limit on how many free viewers you can invite.

What viewers can do

Viewers can see the app, but they cannot edit, build, or interact with data beyond viewing. They also cannot build their own apps.

After 30 days

When the 30-day window expires, the viewer is prompted to upgrade to continue using the app. They cannot be re-invited as a free viewer after expiry.

What the inviter sees

When you invite a free user to an app, Play shows a notice: "[Name] is a free member. Free members get 30 days of access to this app." You'll also see a Switch to team plan option if you want to give them ongoing access.

Converting viewers

If a viewer wants to keep using the app, there are two paths:

  1. They upgrade to a paid individual plan.

  2. You switch to a team plan and add them as a member.
