Editing & updating apps

Every app in Play is designed to evolve. You make changes by talking to Play in the same chat where the app was built.

How to edit

Open the chat associated with your app. Describe what you want to change:

  • "Move the filters to the top of the page"

  • "Add a column for deal owner to the table"

  • "Make the chart show monthly instead of weekly data"

Play updates the app in the right panel. Each edit builds on the previous version.

Version history

Every build creates a new version. You can browse the history to see what changed at each step.

Pushing updates live

When you edit an app, the changes are only visible to you in your building session. Your team continues to see the current live version.

When you're ready, upgrade the app to push your changes to everyone with access.

Tips for effective edits

  • Be specific. "Make it better" gives Play little to work with. "Add a date filter that defaults to the current month" is clear.

  • One change at a time. Step-by-step iteration produces more predictable results.

  • Reference what you see. "The table on the left side" helps Play understand exactly what to change.
