Building an app

Building in Play is conversational. You describe what you need, Play builds it, and you iterate until it's right.

Starting the build

Open a new chat and describe what you want. The more context you give, the better the first version will be. But you can always start simple and refine.

Good starting prompts:

  • “Build a customer success dashboard that shows health scores, renewal dates, and recent activity”

  • “I need an internal tool where the team can log and track feature requests”

  • “Create a hiring pipeline app with stages from sourcing to offer”

The building process

  1. You describe - Type your request in the chat

  2. Play plans - Analyzes your request and determines the structure

  3. Play builds - Constructs the app, creating collections if needed

  4. App appears - The built app shows in the right panel

  5. You iterate - Ask for changes in the same chat

Connecting data and tools

Tag integrations in your message with / to connect external tools. Play automatically creates collections when your app needs persistent data. You can also connect to existing collections with #.

After the build

  • Share your app with team members using the share icon

  • Pin it on your Home page for quick access

  • Upgrade the app to push changes live when you're ready

Try it: Think of one manual process your team does every week. Open a new chat and describe an app that would handle it.
